Many of us appreciate the need for acoustic treatments, but few really understand some of the reasons behind it all. The problem is acoustics is a discipline of physics, and physics is often enshrouded in math, complex calculations, and abstract principles.
Every so often someone comes along who can explain complex theories in a straightforward manner. John Calder of Acoustic Geometry (see our review of their CURVE product in Tape Op #88) recently released the following video that covers how sound works in a room.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. It's only a few minutes, but it packs a lot of theory, examples, and maybe some surprises.
Tape Op is a bi-monthly magazine devoted to the art of record making.
