I interviewed David J in 2015, as I had long been a fan of his bands Bauhaus and Love & Rockets, and had been buying his solo albums since his first works in the '80s. We ended up working on some music with Barton Carroll at my studio a year or so later, which was quite fun!

The three-LP Tracks From the Attic (originally released Record Store Day's Black Friday 2023) is full of David's cassette demos from 1984 to 2004. Gabor Nemeth transferred the cassettes, Gary Hobish at A. Hammer mastered, and Warren Defever (Tape Op #9) cut the lacquers. It's on Bruce Licher's Independent Project Records, who have put out some of my favorite music over the years (Savage Republic, Scenic), with always amazing packaging.
