New video series from Tape Op: How to Record a Band at Home
This new five-episode video series focuses on using affordable gear to record a full-band performance in the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms of a typical single-family house. The series is hosted by Tape Op’s Gear Geek, Andy Hong, and Nashville-based engineer, Shay Obray, and is produced in conjunction with the folks at Inside Blackbird and Universal Audio. Using only eight mics and affordable gear, the rock band Jeer turns Andy’s house into a studio for a few days. Each episode is 30-45 minutes in length, and will go in-depth on the gear and unique techniques utilized to record and mix an original song performed by the 4-piece band. The series will capture the process and discuss the considerations for tracking the performances of multiple band members and their instrumentation. The first episode is out now, and you can check out the trailer below. Be sure to subscribe to our channel and check back every two weeks for the next episode!
