The Go-Betweens box set G Stands for Go-Betweens, Vol. 3 (2000-2006) out now

In February 2000, I was lucky enough to record the legendary Australian group, The Go-Betweens, for their "comeback" album, The Friends of Rachel Worth. I'd done an interview with Robert Forster for Tape Op the year before, which – along with me having just finished a Sleater-Kinney album (with John Goodmanson producing) that piqued Robert's interest – led to this even happening. Being a huge fan of the band, it was an honor to work with Robert and the late Grant McLennan on their songs, with Adele Pickvance on bass plus my Quasi pals Janet Weiss on drums and Sam Coomes on keyboards. Janet's Sleater-Kinney bandmates Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein added vocals and guitar to the song "Going Blind" as well. The G Stands for Go-Betweens, Vol. 3 (2000-2006) box set is an extensive collection and features a remaster of this album, plus all the "Larry Crane Rough Mix" versions of 1-hour-per-song quick mixes I did on the final studio day before they took the record to Germany to mix. I've written several Substack posts about our time in the studio, so please check those out. It was a wonderful time, and I still miss Grant so much.
