Steve Silverstein has been a Tape Op contributor for ages now, and finally he has a damn record out, by his duo Christmas Decorations, and it's cool. "Recorded with a little help from our friends Mitch Rackin and Charles Burst in their raw basement space at the southern end of Chinatown", this is a minimalist exploration into soundscapes and fractured songs, reminding me of Colin Newman (...Singing Fish), Brian Eno and Eyeless in Gaza. Mastering by John Golden helped pull it all together. (www.www.kranky.net)
