Sonic Youth : Murray Street

REVIEWED BY Larry Crane

ISSUE NO. 32 November 15, 2002

On their newest record, Jim O'Rourke recorded and mixed at their Echo Canyon studio, with Aaron Mullan assisting. Sonic Youth produced. John Golden mastered, once again. It has kind of a subdued sound, drums don't feel crispy, like most modern stuff, and while it never sounds "dull", there's a feel to the sound of this album that really works with the overall mood. One of their best albums in a while, according to many of my friends who make statements like that. (www.sonicyouth.com)
