I've been seeing occasional Tape Op contributor Geoff Sanoff's name pop up on quite a few cool CDs lately (Boys Vs. Girls, etc) and this is the latest to grab my attention. Sparse, lonely and lovely, reminiscent of early Cowboy Junkies, this is a beautiful recording. Musically it's nothing new, but timeless music like this usually isn't and that can be a good thing. I should note that Geoff's role here would seem to be enabler or overseer from the CD credits. Band members Gary Maurer and Dan Messé are credited with production, Gary and Geoff with recording at Stratosphere Sound, Gary, Geoff and Dave Fisher mixed it at Sear Sound and Greg Calbi mastered at Sterling Sound. A great collaboration by all involved. (www.rabbitsongs.com)
