I finished writing all these "reviews" and then realized that one of the CDs I'd been listening to most was this one. Bettie Serveert have been around for years now, and is a great guitar pop band. This new record distills the band down to the core of Carol Van Dyk and Peter Visser. Both play guitars, Carol sings and writes, Peter writes and produces. It's a perfect team, and arrangements and sounds get carried to extremes here. Good listening. Recorded by Sytze Gardenier and David Klooker at E-Sound in Weesp, The Netherlands, plus Peter's living room. Mixed by Jan De Ryck at Turtle Power in Heist Op Den Berg, Belgium. (www.parasol.com)
