Don is better known as the man behind Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA, and the guy that's produced many cool records for Fugazi, their Dischord Label, and many others (see interview in the Tape Op book and issue #9). Here, eschewing spending time with his 24-track, he records on a mono reel-to-reel deck with a very distinct lo-fi/distorted sound. The rough-hewn quality certainly brings the focus back to the interesting, quirky songs, sung live with an acoustic guitar. Inside it says "artists have long understood that it is what you DON'T say, or paint, or play that counts most." Amen. Nice letterpress Discfolio package from Independent Project Press too!
