King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Release New Album: Flight b741
No secret that I am a big fan of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. They first caught my ear in 2017 with their Turkish Psych-Rock flavored album, Flying Microtonal Banana, and I have been a fan ever since. If you asked me what the definitive KGLW album was, I couldn't tell you. They have gone deep on such a wide array of genres and styles over their 26 albums, that choosing just one album that represents what they do best would be a crime.

On their new release, Flight b741, the Melbourne Australia based band sounds like they could be sharing a bill with bands like Badfinger and Argent. It's another great offering that refuses to pin King Gizz to any specific genre, and they do it with respect to the past while charging forward with their own sonic stamp and unique take on classic rock.
Since the last several offerings from the band have delved into thrash metal, synth-heavy electronic trance, kraut-rock leaning epics and microtonal explorations, don't expect the next to be like the last.
We interviewed King Gizzard's Stu Mackenzie in Tape Op #149 and he was also a guest on the Tape Op Podcast.
Tape Op is a bi-monthly magazine devoted to the art of record making.
