Linda Perry: Let It Die Here (album)

Linda Perry’s last solo album came out in 1999. In the 27 years since then she has become one of the most successful producers for other artists, writing and recording hits for P!NK, Christina Aguilera, and more [Tape Op #143]. This album marks a return to the mic for Perry and a coming home to herself. The 17 songs on Let it Die Here are a cathartic reckoning with mortality, grief, and identity. In the 2024 documentary feature film (also titled Let it Die Here [Tape Op #163]), we see Perry navigate the loss of her mother and weather a cancer diagnosis. Amidst the chaos of treatments and loss she never stops her relentless work in the studio scoring films and producing for other artists. In the film, she sits down to write and asks herself “What Would Linda Do? I know what Linda would write for Madonna, but what would Linda write for Linda?” The answer is Let it Die Here, an opus to her late mother, “the villain and the muse,” and a declaration to keep the muse alive in her art.

Album Engineered and Produced by: Linda Perry at Greenleaf Studios. Three songs were assistant engineered by Dan Ballard. Mixed by Dave Way at Waystation Studios. Mastered by Gavin Lurssen [Tape Op #112] and Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering.
