Music Biz Changes and Links

Here's some links and stuff from a thread I started at the Tape Op Message Board forum: David Byrne interviews Thom Yorke about the Radiohead "In Rainbows" download in Wired Magazine. Pandora Radio is an internet radio site that allows the listener to create custom "stations" and is a great way to hear new music. I think "filtering" sites like this will part of the new music biz world. The Future of Music Coalition are fighting for the rights and well being of musicians in the US. Check out their activities at: Coolfer has become the site I use for keeping up on music biz shit. Thanks to Jeff Osborne for the heads up on this site! Wired Listening Post More blog action on music tech changes. Some kinda fluffy... Thanks again to Jeff Osborne for the tip. Economist Says... Why do records all sound the same? Maybe because you are buying shitty records? Ha ha, just kidding... "Without a doubt, file sharing has had a huge negative impact on music industry sales," said Russ Crupnick, vice president of The NPD Group. "But our research shows that even if digital file sharing were to disappear tomorrow, the record labels and retailers would still need to overcome important underlying causes of recent market declines."

Tape Op is a bi-monthly magazine devoted to the art of record making.
